Description
This flat bar is supplied in either 6061-T6 or 6082-T6 aluminium. Both are heat-treatable alloys with similar strength, machinability, weldability, and corrosion resistance. To help keep prices down, we source and supply either grade according to availability, as they serve similar purposes in many applications. A specific grade cannot be selected.
Features
- Composition: Aluminium alloyed primarily with magnesium and silicon.
- Temper: Supplied as T6 (solution heat-treated and artificially aged), subject to the material note below.
- Strength: Suitable for a range of structural and general engineering uses.
- Finish: Mill finish.
- Corrosion resistance: Good resistance in many environments.
- Machinability: Suitable for standard machining processes.
- Weldability: Generally good; welding can reduce strength near the weld.
